In March 2024, the Sapphire Sky Wind Energy Center (250 MW) submitted its first annual $50,000 donation to a new McLean County Community Fund. This announcement came on the heels of the one-year anniversary of Sapphire Sky, which reached commercial operations in February 2023. Annual contributions to the fund will be split between Invenergy and National Grid Renewables, with management by the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. This fund will bring annual benefits to McLean County and establish a long-term community partnership with Invenergy and National Grid Renewables, who initiated development of the Sapphire Sky project. The funds will be used to support grants for McLean County community programs focused on education, health and wellness, and youth programming. We are excited to see our partnership in McLean County continue to grow.
