Samson Solar Energy Center

How it's coming together
Located in Franklin, Lamar and Red River Counties in Northeast Texas, the Samson Solar Energy Center began construction in July 2020. Consisting of a five-stage construction process, this landmark project will generate more than 1,300 megawatts of clean energy once completed – enough to power the equivalent of 300,000 homes.
What sets it apart
The Samson Solar Energy Center is poised to be one of the largest solar facilities in the United States and is at the forefront of a booming solar industry in Texas.
This unique project is further distinguished by the all-female Invenergy development team that worked to take it from the drawing board to construction, something that’s still uncommon in the energy industry. Since its early development phases, the team took a dedicated approach to developing relationships with local community members and landowners who will benefit from the project.
Invenergy is committed to being the partner of choice for those looking to forge a sustainable path on a new scale. The Samson Solar Energy Center is poised to bring clean power to residents of Northeast Texas with the future capability to support the climate and sustainability goals of businesses in the region.
What's the impact
Samson Solar Energy Center represents a multi-billion-dollar capital investment in the region. Over the life of the project, Samson will directly invest $450 million into local communities through new tax revenues and landowner lease payments. The project’s construction will support hundreds of construction jobs, and the facility will create 12 full-time operations and maintenance positions.
The more than 1,300 megawatts of energy Samson is expected to generate will offset 6 million tons of carbon dioxide over the project’s lifespan – an equivalent of taking 325,000 cars off the road or planting 500 million trees.
